A correct diagnosis is necessary first.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to "Ask a Doctor " service.
I have read your query and here is my advice.
Before to say that there is something, or nothing to do, a diagnosis is necessary.
In your husband's case, I think that conditions such as cervical spine stenosis, peripheral neuropathy, etc. should be considered and evaluated further.
Underlying causes such as diabetes, spondylosis of the spine with nerves compression, low vitamin B12 levels, prolonged alcohol use, etc. may lead to such conditions.
Examinations ( imaging studies of the spine, blood tests ) are necessary for a correct diagnosis.
Treatment depends on the diagnosis.
Discuss with your Neurologist for these issues.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
