Brief Answer:
Nerve compression and neurological disorders to consider.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to "Ask a Doctor " service.
I have read your query.
Numbness in one finger may indicate nerve compression, for example, carpal tunnel syndrome in its first stages, in such case.
Funny feeling in lower lip and cheek, on the other hand, may be linked to problems such as dental or sinus conditions.
In rare cases, these symptoms may be caused all by one underlying condition, for example, multiple sclerosis.
It is necessary for you to get evaluated by your Doctor first.
The doctor can also ask for further tests in order to achieve a correct diagnosis.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

thank you for your answer, I wanted to add that I had a root canal 3 days ago, I wondered if that could be a cause as well? but with nerve damage why would part of my thumb feel numb as well as my lip and cheek?
Brief Answer:
Most likely two separate conditions.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.
As we discussed before, thumb numbness and lip numbness may be two separate conditions.
Dental work may justify lip numbness.
Get evaluated by your Doctor in order to understand correctly your condition.
Hope this helps.
Greetings.
