Brief Answer:
unlikely to require such radical surgery

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query. I understand your concerns.

However, stage 0 cancer of rectum is not life threatening. It is usually manages by polypectomy or local excision and does nit require radical surgery and colostomy bag.

We need to know the current status of the lesion. Is it taken care by polypectomy and the margins are clear? In that case only supportive treatment (like antibiotics, probiotics, stool softeners, etc) is required. If margins are involved or gross disease present, then another small surgical procedure (without colostomy bag) may be required.

Hope this helps.
Regards
