Urine Microalbumin Very High 73.5 But CREATININE AND CALCULATED GLOMERULAR
Question: urine microalbumin very high 73.5 but CREATININE AND CALCULATED GLOMERULAR FILTRATION RATE is 1.11
Brief Answer:
Could be due to longstanding diabetes
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for using the Ask a Doctor service.
I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. A raised urine microalbumin indicates that the glomerular filtering membranes of the nephrons of the kidneys are leaking protein as the pores have been damaged. Such pores are usually small enough not to let the proteins (microalbumin) out and are usually damaged by longstanding diabetes. Creatinine clearance is perhaps proper or slightly raised but the calculated glomerular filtration rate should be greater than 60 in normal conditions. I would insist you to visit a nephrologist and to get a thorough evaluation done.

here are my results: i am non XXXXXXX XXXXXXX by the way
Creatinine 1.11 mg/dL
Glomerular filtration rate, nonAfrican XXXXXXX >60 mL/min
GLOMERULAR FILTRATION RATE - XXXXXXX XXXXXXX >60 mL/min
Albumin/creatinine ratio,ur,qn 73.5 ug/mg
Sodium 140 mEq/L
Potassium 4.2 mEq/L
ALT 26 U/L
Hgb A1c % 7.2 %
My last numbers a year ago were normal, a year ago my creatinine was 1.06 and my albumumin was 14.5
my hba1c last year was 5.9
I am diabetic, have been since 2003.my numbers have always been within normal range for my kidneys except this test now. if i had any vaginal bleeding from my period that got mixed witht he albumumin test could that have caused the number to be a false high? i was menstruating when i took the test, and they did not tell me to do a clean catch collection of the urine, just had me pee in a collection bucket and then poured into a specimen jar. i am having horrible anxiety over this high urine number .

Brief Answer:
Regular medication and periodic monitoring needed
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. Going by the details and on correlating the results, I do not think that a false high is likely. Nevertheless, your treating physician would be better able to suggest. You need not be anxious. The proper medication and dose should help in easing the problem.
