I have gone through your query and understand your concern. This could be due to electrolyte imbalance i.e. loss of salt water balance in the body. Blood sugar also needs to be checked since raised blood sugar can damage nerves and lead to such a presentation.

what if my blood sugar is great now but was bad in the past? could I have permanent nerve damage from being prediabetic and diabetic for several months to years?
Brief Answer:
Blood HbA1c
Detailed Answer:
You may check blood HbA1c level. It indicates the 3-monthly average of blood glucose. It would be elevated if your blood sugar was elevated in the past.
