What Does A Doctor Listen For When He Or She

TO listen to normal sounds and any changes that occur with diseases
Detailed Answer:
Hi and Welcome to Ask A Doctor service. I have read your question and here is my advice.
A Doctor listens to the different sounds produced when air enters through the airway( starts from mouth to the lungs ) and the different changes that may occur with diseases .
Infacts a charractersric sounds is produced when we normaly tke a breath taking air from mouth through the respiratory tree (air pipe and then lungs) as like blowing into a vessel .These sounds are clearly audible wth the stethoscope at areas of both the lungs and has a special type. Now these sounds can be effected in different ways by different disease .For example,
in asthma when the airways is narrowed thier is a special whistling sounds audible which are very typical of air way narrowing . The quality of sounds may changes if thier is infection , added sounds may be there is many diseases that destroy the tree of our respiratory system. Similarly if there is blockage or fluid in the lungs the sound may be absent or decreased .So it helps a lot in in knowing different condition of the lungs .Similarly we hear the sounds af heart which may change in different heart problems.
Hope I have answered your question. I will be glad to answer any further question about this. kind Regards Dr Rahman. . . .
