Detailed Answer:
Hi,

The nose has many dimensions and angles. The dimensions of nose vary from person to person and from race to race. It's mainly due to the inequality of fusions of facial and nasal bones person to person.

But sometimes many infective and inflammatory diseases can cause fibrosis of the cartilage and the bones of the nose which lead to a short nose. The specific diseases are tuberculosis, leprosy, Wegener's granulomatosis, many collagen disorder like scleroderma, Sjogren's syndrome.

These diseases mainly infiltrate the cartilage and bone of the nose and cause a decrease in underlying circulation and thus cause shortness of the nose.
