What Is The Primary Cause Of The Black And Bloody Stool?

1. over the last 6 months I have had 2 incidents of diverticulitis.
2. in September I had pain in right side of my stomach and fever -- which was diagnosed by CT as diverticulitis; I was provided antibiotics as treatment. Question: what is the primary cause of the pain and fever: is it weak gut immunity that leads to an infection? or something else?
3. In January I experienced black & bloody stool, leading to a colonoscopy, and the insertion of a clip. Question: what is the primary cause of the black and bloody stool? is it weak gut immunity that leads to an infection? or is it something else such as the mere presence of diverticulum?
Thank you.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history and understood your concerns.
To answer your specific questions:
1) The primary cause of pain and fever is infection in the diverticuli. Diverticula are small, bulging pouches that form in the lining of intestine. Since the feces can be retained in such pouches that can cause infection. Infection causes pain, fever, can bleed, can perforate or cause such complications. It is the structural and functional deformity that cause the problems. I hope you are getting this.
2) Black stools indicate blood that has retained and the fresh bleeding will show blood in stool. Already explained in point 1. There are many causes for bleeding in intestines but as we know the cause in your case is diverticulits with infection. This leads to bleeding that needed clipping.
Diverticulitis leads to weak colon immunity.
I am sure your treating Doctors have told you the precautions to be taken and further course of actions as may be needed.
I hope this answers your queries.
Please feel free to ask for additional relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
Thanks.
