it has been hurting and last weekend i went skiing and fell a lot and ive been going to the gym every day basically. it started to look like this friday. ive been trying to limit the movement but its been feeling kind numb and tingley from the knee down when im not moving. what is it and is it something serious or a pinched nerve / strained muscle / something that just needs time?

Thank you for elaborating. It looks like a bruise, possibly from the strenuous exercise you describe. The tingling sensation can easily be a "bruised" nerve and the numbness can persist for some weeks, so it is important to be patient. If you can walk you shouldn't worry, and only see your doctor or go to the ER if the pain doesn't gradually subside. Try simple OTC analgesics.
