A) Increase in weight can be due to
1)life style problems
-Eating habits-over eating or bringe eating. Eating fast food,Excess of sweets,fried things,
2) lack of exercise-
-Sedentary work.,excessive sleeping, no regular exercises
3)some medical conditions- like thyroid problem,Diabetes,polycystic ovarian disease, excessive cholesterol in blood.
B)When somebody thinks of reducing weight..one has to take care from all these three angles .So I would suggest you to-

1)Start eating a balanced diet with
-Restricted carbohydrates..less of sugar,rice,wheat,potatoes,sweet fruits, sweets,oily or spicy food,fried food etc.
- Eat - more of proteins(pulses,sprouts,soya products,nonspicy nonveg food)/ vegetables ,salads,non sweet fruits/minimum of Roti&rice/drink butter milk,
2)form a habit of 45 minutes exercise daily regularly (games,swimming, gardening dancing ,running,jogging,brisk walking,)
Yoga exercises&Pranayama for 20 minutes daily.
3) Sleep for 6 hours sound sleep daily. (Use yoga Nidia for that) in night .No or minimal sleep in day time.
-Avoid excess of psychological stress.
5)Get yourself checked for the medical conditions mentioned above to exclude or find any of the problem followed by specific treatment .
Consult your family doctor for that.
