Hello

After going through the medical query raised by you I can understand your concern for your health and I would like to tell you that intense physical exercise is supposed to raise your heart rate which is quite physiological.

People who have normal body build usually feel that fast heart rate as palpitations.

If you don’t experience any symptoms like chest heaviness or dizziness or light headedness during that fast heart rates then there is nothing to be concerned of however if you still feel that something is abnormal then it’s advisable to get a treadmill test done to see the electrical activity of your heart during stress. If you don’t experience any symptoms like chest heaviness or dizziness or lightheadedness during that fast heart rates then there is nothing to be concerned of however if you still feel that something is abnormal then it’s advisable to get a treadmill test done to see the electrical activity of your heart during stress

Kind Regards

Thank you. And you are correct in your assumptions. No chest heaviness, no pain, no shortness of breath; the only thing is when I think I feel something and take my pulse, occasionally it is skipping. Not irregularly irregular. More like beat beat beat beat ......brief skip then repeat cycle. Shortly after rest and hydration it returns to normal. Bp 120 over 70 and hr resting 60. I am not a medical Dr. but I do hold a PHD so I would appreciate a best guess from this brief written triage. I agree with you; I asked my cardiologist for a stress test and he wants to do a 30 day event monitor followed by another echo. Every ecg, jolted and echo to date has been perfect. These palpitations started about a month ago and only an hour or more into hard exercise. I’ve researched this independently and feel it’s probably adrenergic afib or adrenaline induced palpitations. I do have paroxysmal afib since 2013 but only had 3 short events until this started last month. The three were most likely caused by over indulgence so I stopped drinking a year ago and lost 30 pounds. I’ve been exercising hard for about a year and these just started last month. What do you think Dr. Normally I feel great. No afib no discomfort. Just this past month and occasionally, not every time, during exercise. I take sotalol 80 mgs twice a day and since this started my cardiologist put me on Eliquis. Sorry to go on. This format only allows 160 characters on the first question so I wanted to give you greater detail. Take care.......Rich. 64 yo male otherwise in good condition

Brief Answer:
Hello again

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the details Sir. With history of paroxysmal AF and agin having episodes of palpitations it’s better to be on Eliquis as a precautionary measure.

Also I would like to suggest you to kindly check your thyroid levels also for any derangements.

Extended holter monitoring will help detect any transient episode of AF and echo will help to know the funcational and structural status of your heart.

Otherwise your blood pressure and resting heart rate are all within normal limits.

Kind Regards
