12 Weeks Pregnant, Slight Bleeding. Have Low Placenta. Prescribed Duphaston To Avoid Abortion. Should I Have This Medicine?
Hello,
My wife is 12 weeks pregnant and she had slight bleeding for couple of days. When we checked with doctor, she advised that Placentia was low and due to that bleeing was there. However the baby was doing fine and asked to take complete rest and also prescribed to use Duphaston in order to avoid abortation.
Could you all please advice if this medecine is really required at this stage, I checked in internet and saw some negative reviews. Your valuable comments are much appreciated.
Hi, Thanks for consulting us. Duphaton is being used in pregnancy very commonly for threatened miscarriage & is generally considered safe. Although, these days it has been largely replaced by vaginal tablets to minimize the undesirable systemic side effects. These are expensive but have much better tolerance. So, you may discuss this option with your doctor. Both these are progesterone preparations & are used to support pregnancy, but, their role for this indication is not proven. Hope this is a helpful answer for you. Take care.
