14 Year Old, Diagnosed With Dengue Fever. Platelet Count At Stagnating Level. Time Period To Reach Normal Count?
My nephew (14 years of age) has been diagnosed with Dengue fever. His platelet count went down to 1.04 lac and after medication it reached 1.30 lacs but it is stagnating at this level for the last two days. Does stagnating platelet count is a matter of concern? How many days does it take for a dengue affected patient to reach his platelet count to the normal level?
Hi, Thank you for asking question on health care magic. The stagnating platelet count is not a matter of concern. You should worry only if the platelet count falls below 40000/cmm. Increasing hematocrit is of more concern in denguefever. It takes about 2-3 weeks for the platelet count to come to the normal level. Hope this answer will serve your purpose Please feel free to ask any more queries if required Take care Dr.M.V.Subrahmanyam MD;DCH Associate professor of pediatrics
