16 Yr Old Experiencing Severe Epigastic Distress Radiating To Back Between Shoulder Blades. Difficulty Breathing. Suggest?
hi doc, my 16 yr old daughter is experiencing severe epigastic distress. which radiates to her back, between her shoulder blades. she is having difficulty breathing or taking deepbreath. she has had acid reflux as a child. she ate pizza and salad , and now complaining of pain . she took pepcid and drank pepto b ismol to see if it would help.
The symptoms can be attributed to increased gas formation, secondary to increase in acid secretion the stomach. Symptomatic relief can be obtained by intake of antacids like Pantoperazole 20 mg twice a day (to be taken 30 min before meals) & Digene gel (to be taken after food)
If symptom still persist, kindly consult a Gastroenterologist for proper clinical examination. Ultrasound scan of abdomen & upper GI endoscopy will be helpful to detect any pathological cause of the symptoms.
Take care.
