2 Year Old, Red, Bumpy Spots On Buttocks And Genitals, Spreading In Nature. Reason?
Hello,
I have a 2 year-old daughter; I noticed 3 days ago that she had a few red, bumpy spots on her buttocks as well as on genitals, they however seem to spread now - she has them on her thighs, a few on her feet and a few on hands. Her face/belly/back are clear. She does not seem to be in any pain, she does not appear irritated and she does not scratch herself either. She has a good appetite as well. Only this spreading is really worrying, especially when we noticed the bumps on her feet and hands too... Any idea what that could be please?
IT is possible that she has hand foot and mouth disease.
This is a viral illness that is more commonly seen in children. IT can present with skin lesions on the hands, feet, buttocks and in the mouth.
It is usually a mild short lived illness that lasts about a week.
The treatment mainly involve addressing the particular symptoms if they are distressing. For example if lesions occur in the mouth, it can affect the ability to eat and pain medication would be needed. In the case of mouth lesions , it is also important to make sure the child stays hydrated.
You can consider visiting her doctor to determine if this the cause of the rash.
