2 Year Old With Thick Nasal Mucous Discharge. No Fever. Need A Permanent Cure

My granddaughter is 2 years old and she has had a runny nose since January so almost 5 months. She has thick mucous drainage that requires wiping wiping every few minutes. She does not have a fever or a cough.
She does not seem to have a cold and is an active happy child most of the time. What can we do to help relieve her runny nose. Her doctor says she will grow out of it.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Your grand daughter is likely to be suffering from Allergic Rhinitis.

If the symptoms are troubling her she needs to be started on medications which could control her allergies on long term basis.

At present decongestants and steam inhalation twice a day could relieve her of the symptoms. Also boost her immunity with a well balanced nutritious diet.In addition keep her vaccine schedule complete including flu vaccine.

Bye
Take care.
