20 Week Ultrasound Shows Fetus With Dwarfism. Opinion?

My daughter in law just had a 20 wk. ultra sound . Everything has been normal. Today, the CMA tells her the baby s limbs are 3 wks. Behind and has set up an appt. with a specialist on Mon. She said its dwarfism! They are extremely upset! There was no further discussion or anything! It wasn t even a Dr. I believe this is a bit premature, what do you think?

Radiologist 's  Response
Hi, welcome to HCM.
It is not premature . Limbs should be of 20 weeks length. If they are short by more than 2 weeks then its a pathological condition associated with disease. In such cases combined opinion of radiologist and gynecologist will be very helpful to continue pregnancy or not.
Consult your gynaecologist as soon as possible because after 20 weeks decision making is quite difficult .

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
