Hi Dr, I am 32wk 3days preg and started having rashes on abdomen. Rashes are mostly like mosquito byes in appearance. Itchiness increases during night to give sleepless nights & its getting worst since a week now. My OB referred me to skin specialist who prescribed me Avil 25 mg and ExeCare lotion twice a day. Browsing through internet suggest mixed responses to the Avil, consfused should I go ahead or not with Avil 25mg, Please suggest
Hi, Thanks for the query. With the progression of pregnancy, the uterus size will increase. That can lead to stretching of the abdominal skin layers. This leads to separation of college fibers and itching. Don't scratch over the abdomen. Ointment is sufficient to treat the condition. If you are having excessive itching, you may use anti-histamines for shorter period. Take care.
