Hi thanks for posting your query on healthcare magic
High blood pressure in this age group require complete work up to know the caue of
high BP.These tests inclide kidney functions,
lipid profile, heart function, thyroud function test. Renal doppler study must be done to rule out
renal artery stenosis (blockage of renal artey). If cause is identified then correction of underlying cause normalises blood pressure. If cause is not identified then we term it as
essential hypertension that should treated to aim to control blood pessure directly by
antihypertensive medication.
Ideally when one antihypertensive drug is selected it's dose should be tritrated gradually to control BP. One has to increase the dose if BP high till maximal dose is reached and even at this dose if BP remail high then add another antihypertensive.
In your case highest dose of Amlodepine is 20 mg per day. If it is reached then Telma or Losar or Olmisartan or cardace can be add.
Do not forget weight reduction, stopping
smoking, regular excercise and salt restriction are fist line of treatment. Drugs come after these measures.
Hope my infirmation help you for better control and understading of high Blood Pressure
wish you Good Health
