4 Year Old Child, Hemophilia A. Will His Factor VIII Production Increase With Age?
my nephew is suffering from sever hemophilia A...we don't have a positive hemophilic history...it is because of gene mutation..i just wanted to ask is it possible that with progression of age his factor VIII production may increase...as someone told us that his condition would become less sever when he reaches age of 18-20....currently he is 4...and if in any case it is possible than how?? i mean will constant administration of factor VIII makes it possible or it just happens by itself....thanks will be waiting for your answer

Hemophilia has two types one is hemophilia A and another 1 is hemophilia B..
hemophilia A is characterized by partial or complete deficiency of factor VIII
It is an X-linked recessive disorder characterized by recurrent bleeds in nose,GIT,bleeding into joints,prolonged bleeding from injuries,,increased menstrual loss if the chil is girl at the time of puberty etc..
depending upon the levels it is classified into mild and severe
In mild cases desmopressin is used,,
It cause release of Factor VIII from the blood vessels.
But in severe cases you may need blood transfusions containing factor VIII.
There is no evidence that after the age of 18 the levels will increase..
Consult hematologist for further suggestions and treatment..
