5 Month Old Son, Cold, Wheezing, Yellowish Urine. Mother Had Viral Infection. Anything To Worry?
Hi Doctor, My son is 5 months old.He has got a bit of cold and was having wheezing last week and he is on medication. No antibiotics. My concern is since last 2-3days he is passing less urine and also at times is yellowish. He is active. Also I must mention that even I was having viral and was on antibiotics. So is it a singn of some worry.? Kindly reply. Thanking you.

Hello, Thanks for posting your query. Decreases urination during illness could be due to mild dehydration as insensible fluid loss is more during colds fevers etc. Another cause is the effect of medications ongoing for the illness.However it doesn't seem a sign of danger as the child is otherwise playful, active . Assuming the child is breastfed increase your water consumption ( mothers) and do give frequent feedings to improve your baby's hydration. If water is given to baby make sure it's boiled n sterile.If problem persists beyond a week or worsens consult the pediatrician . regards
