5 Year Old, Having Painful Red Spots On Butt And Thighs Every 6 Months. Cause And Prevention?

My 5 year old son keeps getting these painful red spots with a white head (like a zit only painful and swelling to it) on his butt and thighs. He gets them about every 6 months and when he does he gets more than one. We have taken him to the Dr. every time he gets them. One time they told us that it was like a staff infection and gave us a cream for them. The last time they gave us an antibiotic for it and told us it was something else. Can you tell me why he keeps getting these? And how to prevent them?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

Carbuncles do form frequently in the gluteal regioin of children and antibiotics do control thme if started at the right time. They can recur in children who are diabetic for which necessary investigations must have been done for your son. Kindly ensure proper hygiene and keep the area dry to prevent recurrence.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your son an early recovery.
