6 Year Boy, Bi Serrated Rib, Lump Of Bone On Upper Rib Cage. Any Ideas?

We have a six year old boy with what the pediatrian calls a biserrated rib. A lump of bone appears on the upper rib cage. Doesn't cause any pain or discomfort but we are concerned and are planning a visit to a pediatric surgeon for a consult and would like to be somewhat prepared when we see the surgeon. Any info would be helpful.

Hello friend,
Your child's condition must be a congenital problem but recently found out. Investigations can be done but it is always better for the child not to do any surgery on him. His condition is not going to give him any unwanted suffering. Being a child too much of investigations and surgical interference will give him some complex of handicap that may remain with him for longer period. So avoid surgery unless it is very much necessary, which I do not believe it is.
Best wishes for a happy and healthy future for your child.
