68 Years. Thallium Stress Test Result Shows Area Of Ischaemia-20-25%. No Pain Or Uneasiness. Angiography Required?
Hi Doctor,
My father, 68 years old had underwent a regular checkup. Post TMT, he was advised to undertake Thallium Stress Test to see the bloackage and decide if he should undertake angiogrpahy or not. I am unable to attach his Thallium Stress tests results, as there is no option to attach reports here.
However the final readings read "Area of Ischaemia- 20-25% (Rest to Stress perfusion reduction 10-20%).
Could you please suggest me if he needs to undergo angiography?
He doesnt have any un-easiness or any pains as such in his daily life.
Dear Sir Thanks for your query to us. My first question to you is why does he underwent a TMT? What was his profile before TMT? If he does not have any pain or uneasiness why was he subjected to TMT and then thallium? If he has diabetes? Shortness of breath on exertion or any other exertional symptoms? Technically a positive stress test with high risk criteria warrants angiogram. But a lot depends upon clinical profile too. Please get him evaluated thoroughly by a good cardiologist. Sincerely Sukhvinder
