7 Month Baby, Watery Stool, Blood In Stool, Diaper Rash. Taking Only Formula. Recommendations?

My 7 month olds stool is watery but slimy and mucusy, leaving him a diaper rash that I can not get under control. Took him into the pedi last Thursday, tested positive for blood in stool....took out all solid foods, only taking formula...brought in 2 separate stool samples yesterday...lstill testing positive for blood in stool, still an uncontrolable diaper rash....

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Your child seems having a bacterial infection mostly dysentery.

It requires a course of antibiotic.

Oral probiotic and zinc can be given in prescribed dose.

Give sips of oral rehydration solutions to maintain hydration of the child.

Depending on stool culture report, antibiotic can be modified or continued.

Consult the pediatrician for follow up.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
