My query is increase is lymphocytes is any cause of serious diease? Fever with no cold or vomiting is cause of any infection? haemoglobin content is normal for my child?
hi there, you havn't written the total WBC count but from the previous two reports it appears that her counts were high but with antibiotics treatment they were decreasing i.e. from 26.1 it went down to 17.1 which is a good sign as it implies that the cause of increase was infective and she is responding to treatment. Her hemoglobin levels are low and her smear study suggests that she is having iron deficiency anemia which is probable in a child of 7 months who is just being weaned of or is totally on breast milk. Breast milk is not an adequate source of Iron and you will have to add solids to her diet which are rich in Iron. The commercially availabe baby foods are well fortified with all the vitamins and minerals and it would be good for her. Mild lymphocytosis in a 7 monts old baby is not alarming and can be ingnored for the time being. If the child is active and playful, taking her feeds and not crying excessively you need not worry and let her be. If alls well then repeat the blood test after 15 days to follow up. Take care.
