78 Years. On Atelol D And Ditide. Prescribed Concor And Dytor. Safe To Change Medicines At This Age?
My mother is aged about 78 years. She used to take atelol D to control her BP for many years. For the last few years, she has been taking aten 50 everyday and ditide half tablet every alternate day.Recently her doctor changed her medicine to concor 5 one tablet and dytor 5 half tablet everyday. Is it safe to take these new medicines at this age ?
Thanks for your concerns. Yes, it is safe to change antihypertensive medications as long as the blood pressure remains well controlled, for her it should be below 150/80, as far as she does not develop side effects from the new drugs. Sge would not preclude the change.
Yours truly,
