82 Years. Reduced Platelet Count Due To Intake Of Forecox Drug For TB And Jaundice. Suggest To Improve Platelet Count
Dear Experts
My grand father, 82 years old, was suspected to be suffering from tuberculosis & jaundice and was prescribed Forecox drug. However it was later discovered that his platelet count had decreased on usage of this drug. The doctors have stopped usage of this drug, but the platelet count has still not improved. It currently stands at 0000 levels. What can be done to improve the platelet count?
Thanks
Manish
First of all it is very rare for anti -tubercular medications to reduce the platelet count,if at all it happened because of them, it is probably idiosyncratic reaction or the allergic reaction to these medicines.
please look at the other causes of the reduced platelets as well, because nothing can be done except for stopping the drug if the drug is the offender.
There is no way to improve the platelets as such.
Thanks.
