Acute Urinary Retention, Wearing A Catheter. Used Treadmill For Walking, Blood In Urine. Common For Catheter Users?

Hello, I have acute urinary retention for almost a week. I decided to do some walking in a treadmill for about an hour. I felt revive and less depress about having to wear catheter . I noticed there were some red coloring or blood mix with my urine . Is this common with catheter users and can I continue to exercise. I would really like to get back on my normal routine. Please help I need a good advice from a doctor. Thank You so much

Thanks for your query.Based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have been catheterised to relieve acute retention of urine and have noticed blood in urine after having exercise.You have not mentioned your age in your query.
This is due to friction of the catheter during treadmill exercise.However you can not be on catheter drainage for a long period

Please consult qualified Urologist for clinical examination to find out cause for acute retention of urine He may advise you to get following tests done to come to diagnose the cause of retention.
1) Routine urine test and urine culture,
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen to rule out any prostate enlargement .

Further treatment will depend upon the nature of pathology.
