Advice For Constant Cough,10 Years Old Child With Tonsils Removed And Turbinate Reduction
My son is 10 years old and two months ago he had his tonsils and adenoids removed and turbinate reduction. Week 2, his scab from tonsil area came off and he has in extreme pain. Now, he has dry mouth and cough every minute. The pedritician and ENT say he is fine that it is a habit cough but I don't think this is true. What can I do to help him. He takes cough drops and medicine but it has not helped him.
I am Dr Sriram Nathan an ENT surgeon and I will try to help you out with your problem.
Your child seems to have developed reflux which is common in this age too. The surgery would have caused lots of stress and also the medications which includes lots of antibiotics would have added the reflux.
You have ruled out everything else so there is no doubt that this is the case. You can try these:
-take an anti reflux medication called the junior lanzoprazole for a period of two weeks in consultation with your doctor. Complete a full course and do not immediately discontinue
