After Having Shower In Cold Water Experiencing Headache, cold & Tiredness

About 2 -3 months ago, the hot water wasn't working and I was in a rush for work so I washed my hair using cold water from the shower head. It was a big mistake - my head was very painful, it felt like the my head was sizzling and I couldn't bear it. I knew it was the veins in my head that were hurting because they were swollen and tender and painful. I dried my hair and got my head warm again , it was tender and sore for a bit, there were small bumps on my head for a little bit but it calmed down. Ever since, whenever my head got cold or hot, the veins in my head are are painful, sometimes unbearable. It has got much worse recently I can't have a shower without my head getting really painful. Over the last few days I have been feeling rough - achey and tired, very sleepy, I think I have a temperature - hot and cold, feeling generally unwell and my neck has been feeling a bit sore.

I don't know if they are connected or not (I do have M.E which I was diagnosed with when I was thirteen and I am now 25, it does disrupt my life - in particular, I get very painful legs and I don't have as much energy as other people my age. I have just started a new job which I enjoy but am struggling with a little and finding very tiring).

Is this common - the painful veins in my head? I wondered if it was something to do with bad circulation - I get very cold feet, but they aren't blue or anything. Is there anything I can do to calm it down and sort my head out?

Thanks for all your help

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

A headache can be of many reasons. The most common being migraine. Other causes can be cluster headaches, stress headaches etcetera. If headaches are too frequent need to go to a general practitioner for history and examination to come to a diagnosis. Usually, no preliminary scans are required. Graded analgesia was given for treatment and is easily control. Lifestyle modification is also advising like decreasing tea or coffee or alcohol and smoking whichever can be triggering factors.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Abhishek Kumar
