Ammonia Smell For Urine, Brown In Color. Started After Menopause. Taking Zoloft. Infection?
my urine has a strong ammonia smell and has been really dark, almost brown looking. it started last year when i started menopause but now it smells all the time. the color gets better when i drink water but not the smell. i also started zoloft around the same time. could the cause be due to either of these or is it probably a bladder, kidney or uti infection?
Hi Thanks for your query. The symptoms of foul smelling dark urine are unlikely to be a result of either menopause or the pill which you have been using, i.e., Zoloft. UTI is one of the likely causes. I would suggest you to get a urine R&m and urine culture test done. Based on the results we will know for sure if you have a UTI. Mean while keep yourself well hydrated. Hope this helps Good luck.
