Any Suggestion For Child Crying/screaming After Stopped Giving Glibenclamide For Genetic Diabetes?
My son is nearly 1 and was diagnosed with genetic diabetes shortly after birth he s been on glibenclimide since then but was recently taken of this as it was a low dose and the gene that has the mutation is temporary and was told he would be off the medication before he was one which is fine but when I checked his bloods this morning he was 3.6 he s very grumpy and crying he s still the same after his breakfast he also gets up a lot during the night screaming like he s starving but health visitor told me to put him onto water as he shouldn t need fed during the night but could he be hungry because his sugars are low? And is 3.6 ok for his reading? I ve contacted his diabetic nurse but waiting on her reply
Dear sir I understand your concern. in my opinion there will not be any temporary mutations.usually mutations will be life long.the mutation in your kid may be Kir 6.2 but this need to tested by genetic analysis which is done in many research labs.in fact we are doing it in our center in chennei. Blood sugar 3.6 is definitely low you need to feed him. kindly follow 7point estimation of blood sugar until he get stabilised this drug glibenclamide will have good response in Kir 6.2. Get back to me for further information. I suppose I have given the desired response if you have any other query please write back. Otherwise please accept & rate my answer. I will appreciate your review about my answer. Best Regards. Dr Vamsi Krishna Consultant Diabetologist
