Any Suggestion For Child Suffering From Episodes Of Sour Belches And Vomiting?
My son is 12 years old and has been having episodes of sour belches and vomiting for the past 6 or 7 months. His doctor has given him ranatidine or something like that but he still has trouble sometimes a couple times a week then sometimes going a couple weeks without being sick.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history about your 12 year old son, having episodes of sour belches, and vomiting for the last 6-7 months - Doctor has given him Ranitidine still has trouble a couple of times a weeks and sometimes a couple of weeks goes without any symptoms... The history is typical of acid reflux and can be confirmed by the following: Upper GI Endoscopy. Barium swallow studies as he is too young to have plain reflux, there may be some associated history that can find the cause of symptoms. Once diagnosed the treatment will become easy. I would advise to consult a Gastroenterologist for complete clinical evaluation and investigations like ultrasonography or CT scan of the abdomen. Add on medicines like Domperidone.
