Any Suggestion For Flying With Low Hemoglobin And Ferritin Levels?
hi - also concerned about flying with low hemoglobin - 100. my ferratin is 2. flying from Canada to Thailand. are there things i should be aware of. this is chronic anemia and i have been in this state for years - so my body is well adjusted to this (as well as you can be to low iron!)
From your description you are concerned about flying a long distance and you have chronic anemia. Since your body is accustomed to the lower hemoglobin levels you should not have problems with the airplane. The cabin pressure inside a plane is the same as if you traveled to and elevation of6000ft or 2000miters.Most people can tolerate this without problems
The biggest concern I have with anyone traveling in a plane for long distances is developing blood clots in the lower legs from inactivity and sitting is a chair so long. I recommend that you exercise your calf muscles several times an hour and to walk the aisles several times during the flight.
Hope this answers your question. If you have any inquiries please contact us so we can help.
