Any Suggestion For Kid Passing Bloody Stool With Diarrhea?
My grandson is 11 weeks old & started to have bloody stools yesterday with diarrhea about 6 times a day. The pediatrician said he could either have a dairy allergy or an infection. He is strictly breastfed. He is still happy & smiling, but sleeps much more, basically only wakes to eat or be changed. What do you think?
Hi. The best way for this question is to go for the stool test - routine, microscopy and lactose intolerance. This will give the best idea. Bloody diarrhea is not at all expected in a 11 weeks old infant, who is strictly breastfed. Another simple thing to see at home is to observe the anal area by separating both buttocks and see for any anal fissure, which can cause the blood tinged diarrhea.
