Are Ceftriaxone And Amikacin The Right Medication For Typhoid Fever?

Hi,am suffering from typhoid since last 2 weeks n I have 11 month. Old baby n firstly I was on oral medicine but now my doctor changed my treatment line to injectable, is ceftriaxone and amikacin or ceftriaxone alone is good for my treatment, is this is safe for my baby,I am a lactating mother, please tell me

Yes you can use safely ceftriaxone and amikacine for typhoid fever during lactation .

Hello.
Thank you for sharing this question in HCM.
I understand your worry about taking medication while you have a breastfeeding baby. But, stay calm , this is an adequate treatment of typhoid fever in your conditions. Ceftriaxone is effective and safe. Amikacin is safe to , but with some more precautions. Amikacin level is undetectable in milk, 1 to 2 hours after the injectable dose. So after injecting it you have to wait about 2 hours , than to feed your baby.
