Are Hydrochlorothiazide And Atenolol The Cause For Kidney Infection?
My husband is on xarelto - a blood thinner- for seven day AF episode- He took a medication, Flecainide, in the hospital to help restore the natural heart rhythm. while it worked, he flat lined for 7 seconds, which to me is a long time and a concern. Four days latter he developed a bladder/kidney? infection (today) with 102.6 fever. I am wondered about the interaction of all his drugs - hydrochlorothiazide, atenolol, verapamil, and xarelto and the effects on the kidney. Please Advise

General & Family Physician, Dr. G.Senthil's Response
Hi welcome to HCM, Thank you for the post, from the drugs you listed there is no interactions to cause a kidney infection. The infection is most like due to some other cause which should be found by investigations and clinical examinations. so do not worry for that drug interaction.
