Are Pantoprazole, Citanew, Ganaton And Acinic Advisable For Hiatal Hernia And Pangastritis?

Hi,I have recently been diagnosed with hiatal hernia and pangastritis. Dr advised me pantrapazole , ganaton , acinic and citanew. I have been taking pantrapazole on different intervals of 8 to 10 days but it doesn t work. I am just suffering from indigestion whatever I eat it takes time to digest and I don t enjoy food and I don t feel hungry. I am gradually losing weight. Kindly confirm the medicines I am taking are right coz I heard that citanew also produces more acid.

Hello,

Citanew (Escitalopram ) can cause heartburn,gastro-esophageal reflux. Acinic (Nicotinic Acid) can also cause Gastric irritation. Hence these two drugs are not advisable in Pangastrtis.

Consult your doctor for substitutes. Pantoprazole -a PPI (proton pump inhibitor) and Ganaton (Itopride)-a prokinetic drug are advisable in hiatal hernias because of the propensity of affected individuals to have Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
