Are Thyronorm With Metformin Effective In Treatment Of Subclinical Hypothyroidism?
hi doctor i am diagnosed with subclinical hypothyroidism with a high range of thyroid antibodies. i take thyronorm 50 mcg fasting with metformin 500. sub clinical hypothyroidism was detected at six weeks of pregnancy. i was adviced to take 75 mcg in the third trimester and again 50 mcg after delivery. my major concern is the weight reduction. how effetive will be the treatment?
SCH is a laboratory diagnosis because patients are usually asymptomatic. It is very very important to do regularly the thyroid tests TSH,freeT3 and freeT4 and anti-thyroid antibodies during the tre trimesters of pregnancy to assure that you will not have hypothyroidism because it is associated with adverse fetal neurologic effects.
For the problem of weight reduction metformin 500 can help, but in my opinion you need to consult a dietologist because your hypocaloric diet must be studied to provide the nutrients of your growing baby needs.
The right treatement of your hypothyroidism and the dietetic regimen will help you for the weight reduction.Anyway this problem will be more easy to solve after pregnancy.
