Are Antibiotics Sufficient To Treat Peritonsillar Abcesses?
Good Day - I am experiencing fairly severe throat pain. I went to Providence Immediate Care Friday morning. They diagnosed Peritonsillar cellulitis, Sore Throat, Pharyngitis, unspecified etiology. They gave me a shot of Decadron, and prescribed Amoxicillan and Pain releiver. I m still in a great deal of pain and had hoped to see improvement by now. I have taken 5 doses of the antibiotic over 50 + hours with no significant relief. I m concerned that there may be something else going on. How long should I wait before going back to the doctor for further evaluation?
I see that you have already taken the proper treatment, so I suggest you to continue the treatment.
If you don't feel any relief after the treatment you can consult your doctor for a second cycle of antibiotics.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
