Are Antibiotics Suggested For Headache And Dry Cough?
Hello, I m a male 36 I have been having bodyache, sinus pressure, headache and dry cough, and my throat is hurting for from the dry cough. i have taking Theraflu for 2 days and still I feel the same. I have been up for the last 24hrs and I don t know weather to take antibiotic and NyQuil.
Your symptoms may be caused by a viral or bacterial infection. From the other hand the headache and sinus pressure may be related to sinus infection.
I recommend consulting with your GP for a careful physical exam and some tests:
- a sinus X ray study to exclude possible sinus infection - some blood lab tests (complete blood count, inflammation tests) - a sinus discharge bacterial culture to exclude possible bacterial infection.
If a bacterial infection is confirmed antibiotics should be started.
I would not recommend starting antibiotics without a medical consult and the above tests.
Hope you will find this answer helpful! Best wishes, Dr. Aida
