Are Back Pain And Shoulder Pain Side Effects Of Shelcal?
My wife has been prescribed shelcal 500. She is in 33rd week of her pregnancy. She experience lot of back and shoulder aches and lot of motions (though not loose). Is this side affect of this medicine. She took the medicine for the first time today after breakfast.
No, backaches and shoulder pain are not due to Calcium tablets. Infact calcium tablets are given to people in old age to prevent body pains. What your wife is suffering from are common symptoms during this stage pf pregnancy and are completely normal. As the uterus grows in size, the back gets strained and starts aching. She might take painkillers such as paracetamol to get relief. Also, continue taking Calcium tablets.
Hope this information helps. Feel free to ask if you have any doubts.
Wishing you both a happy parenthood. With warm regards, Dr. Sridhar Reddy
