hi I recentlu had a breast ultrasound I have some breast calcifications. I see a specialist he said since I had only 3 calcifications and they were normally shaped they are not cancerous. My question is can calcifications turn cancerous? and do I have to have my calcifications closely monitored?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain Breast Calcifications are most commonly non cancerous and are formed due to calcium deposit in the breast tissue.. They are most commonly non cancerous and if they are present as small discrete calcification they are commonly nothing to be worried and same seems to be in your case.. At times if the calcification are present as very small clusters then can be sign of early cancer.. But as you have 3 discrete calcifications then you need not to worry as they seems probably non cancerous.. You can still get evaluated every 6 months as a precautionary measures to check for any changes on the pattern of calcification so that you can get treated if any abnormality is detected.. If you still want to further get evaluated you can consult an Oncologist and get a Biopsy done.
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
