Are Conjugated Estrogens Prescribed Post Surgery For Prolapsed Uterus?
Hello! My 72 year old wife had a vaginal removal of a prolapsed uterus. She was given a single dose of conjugated estrogens 0.625MG at a cost of $484.00 (not covered). Is this a normally prescribed med or was it prescribed because she is a heart transplant recipient? Thank you for your response.
Use of conjugated estrogen after vaginal removal of prolapsed uterus, does not seem to be related to heart transplant recipient in any way. However, some times the doctor may prescribe it for counteracting the effects of decreased activity of estrogen due to uterus removal and post menopausal conditions. This might have been prescribed to counteract the symptoms of vaginal atrophy as well as dryness, irritation & itching of vagina in your case.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
