Are Delayed Periods A Matter Of Concern Despite Negative Pregnancy Test Results?

Hi, I’m a 25 year old female. My partner and I had unprotected sex and then I consumed an I pill within 72 hours. I have not had my period and it has been almost 7 days. Although I checked twice with two different brands of pregnancy strips and both times the results were negative. Is there anything to worry about?

Hello,

Delayed periods can happen normally and may be due to anxiety or stress. You can wait few more days and if still delayed, you can consult a gynaecologist and start on progestin to induce bleeding.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
