Are Delayed Periods And Weight Gain Symptoms Of Thyroid Problem?
i have been really depressed and exhausted lately, my period is late, i am gaining weight with unknown reason. I have been eating really healthy. I have really dry skin my hair is shedding and i dont know what it is. I think it might be a thyroid problem cause it runs in my family, but what do you think it is? and what do you think i should do about it?
I have read your question fully and understand your concerns.
Hair loss, weight gain, irregular periods, feeling tired, and depression - all of these could point towards hypothyroidism, especially if there is a strong family history. I would advise you to see your doctor and get TSH, T4 and T3 levels done. If the blood results show it is hypothyroidism, then you would be started on a dose of levothyroxine. If it is not hypothyroidism you doctor may assess you further to know the cause of your symptoms.
I hope this answer has helped you.
Thank you
