Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Sir, How safe is Tablet Roliten (Tolterdine)4mg/day in two divided doses of 2mg each for 2 months at a stretch and occasional (on outings/holidays)Tablet Minrin (Desmopressin-once a day at bedtime) for treatment of nocturnal bed wetting and occasional urine dribble during day time in children aged 10 year. Thanks for the help.
Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
DDAVP (desmopressin) tablets are a synthetic replacement for antidiuretic hormone. The drug replaces the hormone for that night with no cumulative effect. The oral form is considered safer.Tablet Minrin (Desmopressin-once a day at bedtime) is safe. Begin dosing with 0.05 mg. Careful fluid intake restrictions in children is required to prevent hyponatremia and water intoxification.
Tolterodine and Desmopressin work better in full treatment of enuresis in comparison with Desmopressin alone. The combination (Desmopressin + Tolterodine-2 mg of Tolterodine tablet plus 0.05 mg Desmopressin oral) can be used for children suffering from enuresis with high efficacy and minimal side effects.
