Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Good afternoon. I woukd like to ask if it is life threatening. My father s sgpt result is 186. He s a harddrinker before and stopped for almost a decade. Then lately he has always a boil(bigger) and healed for almost 2months. Then after a month another boil.
An elevated SGPT in itself is not dangerous. It has to be considered with all the other liver enzymes, including bilirubin. I suggest he has these tests taken and possibly an ultrasound of his liver.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Anders Mark Christensen,
General Surgeon
