Are Floaters In The Eyes After A Cataract Surgery A Matter Of Concern?

I had a cataract surgery a year ago. My eyes are much clearer in sight and not wearing glasses anymore. However, at nightime there are halos in post lights, vehicle lights especially when I'm driving. During the day my eyes are fine. Only a week ago, I have noticed there are floaters in front of my eyes. they were like black dots and they move when my eyes move. It is rather annoying. Is this something I should expect after the cataract surgery? Do I need to see an eye specialist immediately? Is it something serious? Thanks Mia

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hi,

You should see an ophthalmologist. Floaters can be due to a vitreous degenerating which is a common symptom with aging but it can also happen with retinal holes and tears . What concerned me more is the hallows around light which can happen in glaucoma . so please see an ophthalmologist at the earliest . All these are issues of the eye behind the lens and are not related to cataract surgery.

Hope I have answered your query.
